Greg Hardy wants Derrick Lewis to win UFC title to show ‘run in with me is broken bones and blood’

Greg Hardy hopes Derrick Lewis captures the heavyweight title at UFC 230 so he can challenge him for the belt in the future.

Hardy (3-0), a former NFL standout who has impressed since transitioning to MMA, received criticism from Lewis (21-5 MMA, 12-3 UFC) over his troubled past when he was given an opportunity to fight on Dana White’s Contender Series.

Lewis, who challenges Daniel Cormier (21-1 MMA, 10-1 UFC) for UFC gold in Saturday night’s headliner at Madison Square Garden, grew up around domestic violence and has been outspoken toward anyone with a history of it. Lewis said he would happily fight Hardy if given a chance, and now Hardy has issued fair warning to “the fat beast” on social media (via Instagram).

Hardy was signed to a UFC developmental deal after his first appearance on DWCS over the summer. His next bout is scheduled to take place Dec. 21 at Island Fights 51, and if he wins, it seems the path will be clear for him to join the UFC roster.

Dana White impressed by Greg Hardy’s latest win, but UFC call-up still on hold
UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis on Greg Hardy: ‘I really don’t like guys like that’
How far away Hardy would be from fighting someone with Lewis’ status in the organization, though, is something that can only be determined once he shares the octagon with top-level competition.

UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier will make his first 265-pound title defense against power-punching contender Derrick Lewis in a short-notice fight cobbled together after the “Black Beast” came up big at UFC 229. Also on the “Big Apple” fight card, Chris Weidman takes on Jacare Souza after his original opponent, Luke Rockhold, had to withdraw with an injury.

UFC 230 official weigh-in results and video:

We’re one day away from UFC 230 in New York City, and of course that means it’s time for the weigh-ins to make sure that all 13 fights go through go as planned for Saturday. Keep in mind that usually the NYSAC won’t sanction heavyweight bouts that have weight differentials of more than 25 pounds between competitors. If Lewis weighs in at 265, Cormier has to come in at 240 lbs. NYSAC does have the right to allow the bout to continue anyway, so there’s that!

You can watch the UFC 230 official weigh-ins in the live stream below, starting at 9 AM ET/6 AM PT.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) returns to the pay-per-view (PPV) market with its UFC 230 mixed martial arts (MMA) event, headlined by the heavyweight championship showdown pitting reigning division kingpin, Daniel Cormier, opposite hulking division power puncher, Derrick Lewis. In the UFC 230 co-headliner, going down Sat., Nov. 3, 2018 inside Madison Square Garden in New York City, former UFC middleweight champion, Chris Weidman, tries to work his way back to a title shot opposite dangerous Brazilian submission specialist, Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza.

Elsewhere on the card, 185-pound striking phenom, Israel Adesanya, continues his march toward the middleweight title against longtime veteran standout Derek Brunson. And let’s not forget the FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass preliminary cards, featuring such recognizable names as Roxanne Modafferi and Ben Saunders, among others. Not bad for an injury-ridden card cobbled together at the last minute!
